EARLY AMERICAN RECORDS . j Performances by Thoroughbreds From 1854 to 1880. How the Marks Were Reduced From Time to Time in Races During That Period. - ARTICLE II. Herewith Daily Racing Form presents the second of a series of eight tabulations cut up for the sake of space covering the records of American thoroughbreds racing at all distances on the flat, heat races included, from 1854 to 1920. The records are arranged in their order of equality and gradual betterment. The first four serials will cover- the early time from 1854 to 18S0. The second serial embraces the distances from one and one-eighth miles to one and three-quarters miles. The others will follow as space permits. ?One and, One-Eighth Miles.
