GENERAL, away well and showing the most speed, raced into the lead in the first quarter and, holding his advantage gamely, outstayed LONELY. The latter was a forward contender in closest pursuit from the start and finished resolutely. POULTNEY ran a good and game ritce. MISS KRUTER was taken back sharply while going down the backstretch and lost ground; then came wide into the stretch andinight have won with good riding. DR. SHAFER closed a big gap. IVANMIST tired.
