One of Kentuckys fair sex won the Cuba Mile Championship Stakes for three-year-olds when Pread Man, carrying the colors of Mrs. O. li. Potts, was returned an easy winner this afternoon of the third stake feature to be decided at Oriental Park this season. There, were only three starters and Hreml Man was the favorite. After .Mess Kit and Penelope tired fr early excessive use. P.read .Man easily passed them in the stretch and drew away ujt the end. The race? had an added value of ,000 and the winners share was ,530. The majority of the races furnished interesting contests, with close finishes. In the fit.h American Ace ran tin five-eighths of a mile in IiOOts, which is the fastest of this meeting. Jockey Kelsay, who had the mount on American Ace, was set. down for three days for disobedience tit the post. An immense crowd, -which packed the grrnd-stnnd and lawns, turned out today. It waf the largest gathering of the season. The inaugural dash of the afternoon furnished a decided upset in the victory of Uuncrana, quoted at 15 to 1 in the books and 47.50 to in the nilttuels. His success was achieved in the final strides of a thrilling finish, only a nose separating from Pokey Jane, which, under Kennedys hustling ride, had set the pace throughout to tire right at the end. Timothy J. Hogau was third, almost abreast of the first two. The finish was so close that the result was in doubt until the judges announced their decision. In the second race C. P. Smiths View, with J. Carmody in the saddle, made every post a winning one and was never in danger. The real struggle was for the minor portions of the purse, Harry Glover. Incinerator and Clark M. finishing in the order named, witli little to spare between them. Williams Pros. Military Girl was a warm favorite in the third race and while she was returned a winner it required Kennedys best efforts to land her home in front, with Gus Seheer pressing her hard at the end. That the stewards are determined to keep the sport clean is evidenced by the following rulings handed down Saturday. For sending the horse Golden Chance to the post in an unfit condition the board of stewards ordered that further entries of tin? horse, which is owned and trained by II. B. Davis, be refused for the remainder of the meeting and the entries of other horses owned by Davis be refused until such time as a-competent trainer has been engaged who will be acceptable to the board of stewards. The further acceptance of the horse Liberty Pond be refused. The stewards also or-dcred the suspension of jockey E. Parnes for striking jockey Poyle over the head, causing Poyles lip to bleed, during the running of a race Friday, when Parnes was riding Litholick. Monday being designated as a day of rest among horsemen, the gates at Oriental Park will be closed tomorrow and racing will be resumed Tuesday afternoon with the running of the best "off day" cards of the meeting. The Holiday Handicap, an affair with a purse of ,000, distance ione mile, will serve as a worthy feature and will bring to the public view such highly esteemed racers as Cromwell, Ituford, Lackawanna and three others. It. Setty sold the horse Holyhoek today to a Havana business man for a private consideration. Jockey N. Collins is the latest addition to the Jockey colony. He arrived today from lialtiniore and will ride as soon as he secures a license. Charles T. Stoneham and John McGraw are expected to return from New York Tuesday morning. Some indications of the extent of the attendance may be explained from the number of automobiles parked on tin grounds during the races. The number has been conservatively estimated at 500.
