CLOSE FINISHES AT HAVANA Whitneys Noontime Beaten by a New Starter in Cebrians Whispering. — HAVANA. Cuba. January 29.— The colors of K. Cebrian were again carried to victory in todays . two-year-old race when Whispering, a fir-t-lime ■ starter, beat Harry Payne Whitney- N time by i a head in the opening race. Whi-pering- victory was due to the fact that he was ridden by Kelsay. who saved ground on all the turns and in a driving [ finsh just got the winner home. Noontime showed I K -ina-hillg good performance, though he began ! slowly and in the stretch moved up rapidly and I swelled behind the other-. Kennedy tin in took ; , him to the outside and brought him up with a ru-h i but just failed to get up in time. Today- attendance wa- the largest of this meet lag for a Saturday.
