FINISHING TOUCHES REMAIN Churchill Downs Improvements Nearing Com ¬ pletion Track Ready Soon LOUISVILLE Ky March n With more than 2000 stalls at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park the Kentucky Jockey Club can easily take care of all the thoroughbreds that may come fo Louisville for the spring meeting Superintendent Tom Young lias the Douglas Park track in perfect condition and the horses have been galloping over it all winter The resurfacing of the Churchill Downs track has kept the horses from it with the exception of the chute Avhere the daily Avork is taken The new course Avill be icady in another week It has settled rapidly giving a firm foundation and furnishing a live cushion of new earth that the old course lacked Superintendent Young has the harrows going and he is confident that the track will meet all expectations and will be fast and safe The nev concrete terrace extending the length of the paddock has been completed It will accommodate 3500 people All other improvements at Churchill Downs are about finished and the historic course will bo more beautiful than ever before when the gates are thrown open on Saturday Mav 7 Derbv Day
