UNITED HUNTS SPRING MEETING NEW YORK N Y April 9 The amateur and professional steeplechase season will begin at Bel ¬ mont Park Terminal Saturday May 21 This is after the close of Pimlico and before the opening of Belmont Park ParkThe The opening race will he a threequarter mile dash for threeyearolds and over Other races in ¬ clude a maiden steeplechase at two miles and the Between the Flags at three miles and a half for hunters over the timber course a renewal of the timehonored Great United Hunts Handicap Steeple ¬ chase at two miles for fouryearolds and over and a flat race for officers of the United States army and gentleman riders The card will appeal strongly to the amateur as well as to the profes ¬ sional element in crosscountry sport Gentleman riders will have three opportunities and the hunt ¬ ing men two Professionals will ridu the Maiden Steeplechase and the real United Hunts Steeple ¬ chase There are more than the usual number of junipers in training this spring and many new amateur riders are expected to participate in the meeting
