S EASY VICTORY Marks Return of Fred Burlews Colors to Metropolitan Racing Valor Leads All the Way in Au Auburndale burndale Handic ap S ande andeHides Hides Two Winners NEW TORK N Y May 1C Fred Burlews colors were brought back to the races at Jamaica today and triumphed through the victory of the Kunnyincde Hymir colt Morvich favorite for the thirteenth running of the Greenfield Selling Stakes for twoyearolds at five and a half furlongs The Metropolitan Jockey club added 2000 to the event Morvichs share amounted to 30125 Brush Boy and Doily Varden finished second and third thirdMr Mr Burlew raced horses on Metropolitan tracks the year before last but during 1920 devoted his entire attention to conditioning the horses of J II Rosseter His return to the ranks of owners came about through the purchase of Morvich from Max Hirscli The latter Iwught the colt from A B Spreckels after he had practically distanced a baud of twoyearolds at Jamaica on opening day dayMorvich Morvich ran a truly impressive race Beginning fast and in his stride he rushed into a long lead immediately and proceeded to his second set of brackets under slight restraint from jockey Ensor He covered the five and a half furlongs in 107 with 112 pounds up over a slow trSelf Brush Boy followed the winner closest from the start just as in their previous encounter and held on gamely to land in the same position as he occupied at the finish of his previous encounter with Morvich MorvichIn In the Auburndale Handicap at threequarters S C Hildreth sent Valor to the post after scratch ¬ ing1 him several times and the Ballot horse carried E Sande to his second score of the afternoon Valor led all the way to win from The Boy Night Raider and Elected II IIThe The Lafayette second on the program developed a pretty nice Servitor defeating Honey Cell nnu Fair Gain the latter an overwhelming choice Jockey Collins took Servitor to the front immedi ¬ ately The Waterbury colorbearer appeared to tire ufter passing the half post and E Hummer after patiently waiting with Honey Cell to this point while Fair Gain raced wide while leading took the shorter route and appeared to have the race at his mercy However the younger Hum ¬ mer in tight quarters in the final sixteenth al ¬ lowed his mount to flounder white trying to use his whip with the result that Servitor under Col ¬ lins whirlwind finish came again and earned the verdict by a head The favorite tired badly in the last eighth his efforts getting into the lead on the far turn telling when the real test came cameSAMMY SAMMY KELLYS COSTLY VICTORY VICTORYJockey Jockey Sandes star shone brightly in the third race when he again brought J S Richardsons Sammy Kelly home winner over Biff Bang Sunny land and five others Sande outguessed his op ¬ ponents at tile start by going into the lead then taking his mount back at the half and waiting until the stretch where he came on again in spite of being jumped on repeatedly and won by a safe margin Mr Richardson believes it will be neces ¬ sary to put Sammy Kelly on the shelf for two or three weeks as a result of this race raceL L McAtee returned from Kentucky where he rode Nancy Lee in the Oaks and reports that the 1 A Clark horses were due to leave Louisville today for Belmont BelmontTom Tom Hodge is an arrival from Baltimore His horses will be raced in Canada CanadaJockey Jockey J Pierce under contract to William Booth reached Jamaica Sunday from Pimlico PimlicoThe The Rantocas Stable lias taken third call on the services of jockey Ensor thus completing the strongest array of riding talent held by any single interest in the East The stable has Sande and E Fator under contract First call on Ensor is held by R T Wilson and the second by John Sanford SanfordJohn John Setzer bought the twoyearold Roundsman from the Foreign Stable privately privatelyThe The many friends of Ed Henry will be pleased to learn that he is on his feet again after a battle with pneumonia at his home in New York and will be about within a few days daysAndy Andy Scuttinger and wife will motor from Balti ¬ more to New York to rejoin the Xalapa Farm Stable for Metropolitan racing racingJames James Evans who trained the horses of G A Cochraii last year and has been kept out of harness by illness this spring is reported as recovering rapidly at Hot Springs Va and is expected back in New York in about two weeks weeksA A S Woodcliffe bought the filly Fluff from M L Schwartz privately The buyers horses are trained by Ed Peters PetersEdward Edward Foster is an arrival from Tijuana TijuanaDr Dr F W Aslie departed for Montreal where he will officiate on the halfmile tracks tracksJoel Joel Jacobs of the Keystone Tire Company is one of the partners in the ownership of the Siiort Grass Stable of which Kmil Herz is the guiding spirit
