GUVNOR, a prominent contender from the start, raced THE ROY into defeat and took a small lead, but could not -withstand LUN ETTAS challenge. THE ROY set a fast early pace, but tired in the final drive. FORT CHURCHILL was kept close up for the entire way and ran a creditable race. FL1 1? DEVASTATION was saved under restraint behind the leaders until after entering the stretch, then responded quickly when called on, wore RIFF RANG down and won going away. RIFF RANG, prominent from the start, passed REP on the stretch turii when called on and took the lead, but could not keep pace with DEVASTATION in the last eighth. SIR GRAFTON raced next to the inner rail all the way and outllnished REP. The latter rushed into the. lead at once and showed the most early speed, but tired in the last eighth. SKA SINNER and PADDY WHACK ran poorly. THE LAMR refused to extend himself in the lirst quarter and continued to lmckjump while going around the first turn and practically took no part in the nice. PICNIC moved up gamely on the inside and finished fast, but was easily held safe by the winner. DUNCKCAP responded gamely when called on and outstayed FIFTY FIFTY in the final drive. NOIIANT, suddenly improved, slipped through next to the inner rail while going down the back-streteh and, racing JOCK SCOT into defeat while rounding the last turn, took the lead and drew away decisively in the stretch. PIRATE McGEE. also showing sudden improvement, worked his -way up steadily and, finishing gamely, outstayed JOCK SCOT for second place. JOCK SCOT was a forward contender all the way, but tired in the stretch. MAIZE closed :t big gap and so did TAN II. KNIGHT OF THE HEATHER set the pace to the far turn and quit.
