The hest finish of the afternoon came with the running of the third race, in which the first four horses were closely bunched during the stretch run. In the last fifty yards Kafferty drew clear to win by a length. Jockeys W. Taylor and Foden divided the riding honors today, each piloting two winners. After scoring with Bafferty Taylor brought Dewitt through on the inside of Double Van in the stretch to win the fourth race in a driving finish. Under a masterly ride by Foden Dr. Shafer took the Measure of the odds-on favorite Speedster in the sixth. Foden scored with ease on Earnest in the initial dash.
