, ; LATE NEWS FROM LEXINGTON Racing Commission to Hold Meeting Next Thursday to Grant Licenses. LEXINGTON. Ky., April 21.— A meeting of the State Racing Commission to consider applications from trainers and jockeys for licenses and to transact other business preliminary to the opening of spring racing in Kentucky at the local course a week from tomorrow will be held next Thursday or Friday. Sherman Goodpaster, secretary of the Kentucky Jockey Club, came over from Frankfort this morning and was the guest of Mayor T. C. Bradley, resident manager of the local track, in an inspection of the plant, which never looked better than it does at this time. "There is one other thing to be done to complete the contemplated improvements here," said manager Bradley, "and that is to elevate and terrace the lawn between the grandstand and the paddock, which we expect to have completed through the summer." J. O. Keene. member of the State Racing Commission and director of the Thoroughbred Horse Association, returned last night from a trip to points in the "West. He reports that his three-year-old Llewellyn has gone stale in his training at Louisville since being shipped there from Havana. Col. E. R. Bradley, owner of Idle Hour Stock Farm, is in the East, but is expected back home in time for the opening of the racing season. Samuel Ross of Washington, D. C, it was made known today, has purchased a minor interest with Messrs. Barbee. Carrick and Stone in the ownership of the good stallion Sweep. The fourth foal to arrive at W. J. Salmons farm this season is a bay filly by Omar Khayyam — Beacon, by Wrack. This is the first foal to come since Kenneth Kane became manager of the establishment. Two recent foals are the property of Dr. James C. Carrick, one a bay filly by Hour-less — Ethelberta. by Ethelbert, and the other a bay filly by Sweep — Flying Start, by Si Shoot
