SOIL MATE, close up from the start, responded with a good burst of speed in the last six- teentli when her rider shook her up and, taking the lead, won going away. SOVIET raced well, but tired and Just la.-ted long enouph to outstay GOLD MOUNT. The latter made up ground and finished gamely on the inside. ZOONA set a fast pace, but tired badly In the last eighth. ILLUSIONIST raced disappointingly. OUR TELLIE unseated her rider while on the way to the pobt and ran away. MY PLAY, after racing in close pursuit, moved up on the far turn and, passing BIG11F.ART, took the lead and was hard ridden for a time to outstay SUPERLATIVE, but won going away. The latter dropped back on the last turn, but came with a rush when well into the stretch and ou!s-imed SPANISH MAIZE. The latter was on the outside for the entire race and ran gamely, but could never quite get to the leaders. BIC.HEART showed a flash of early speed in pacemaking, but tired badly. AMAZE was cut oft when he attempted to come through on the inside on the stretch turn.
