GREAT CROWD AT JAMAICA Sees Sennings Park Victorious in Long Branch Handicap Bud Lamer Captures Youthful Stakes Highweight Handi ¬ cap to Eeprisal NEW YORK N Y May 20 Even though Babe Ruth performed at the Polo grounds and Exterminator twice winner of the Long Beach Handicap deserted to fill his engage ¬ ment at Churchill Downs a look at the Ja ¬ maica crowd today would mako it hard to be ¬ lieve there was any other counter attraction The stands and lawns were filled to capacity and it was as enthusiastic a gathering as ever came through the gates of the Metro ¬ politan Jockey Club ClubThe The Long Beach Handicap over the mila and an eighth distance and tho Youthful for twoyearolds over five and a half fur ¬ longs were the bright and particular features of the day and each brought out a good con ¬ test There was something of a surprise when Sennings Park from the Westmont Stable was winner of the Long Beach but Bud Larner did not occasion any surprise when he took the Youthful for John E Mad ¬ den denOnly Only four raced in the Long Beach and when the Greentree Stables Damask re ¬ fused to start with tho other three ho might as well have been home in the stable for any chance that he had for a share in the prize prizeLyke Lyke at once sent Sennings Park Into a good lead and by tho time tho baokstretch was reached he was four lengths clear of the others and galloping strongly Mad Hatter was leading Audacious by a length and Damask was far out of the parade paradeAt At the halfmile ground Sande roused Mad Hatter slightly and he drew away from Au ¬ dacious but Sennings Park was still three lengths to the good and showing no signs of weakening Audacious had already given up and the fourhorse race had narrowed to a twohorse race raceLYICES LYICES VIGOROUS RIDING RIDINGBy By this time Lyke was sending Sennings Park right along with a full appreciation of the danger that threatened when Mad Hatter leveled down to his task At the top of the stretch the old son of Jim Gaffney was still a length and a half to the good but he was doing his best and Mad Hatter was continuing to gain with every stride Then at the eighth post Lyke drew his whip at once and followed it by sitting down on Sen ¬ nings Park and riding in his best form right to the end Mad Hatter tired slightly in that final struggle and Sennings Park showing rare gameness lasted to be winner by half a length lengthBob Bob Smith won his first New York race for Walter M Jeffords when he sent Reprisal to the post in the threequarters of tho Hercules Highweight Handicap that brought together a truly good band of sprinters Ha took up 119 pounds and forcing all the pace was a winner by something more than two lengths from Georgo IL Bulls Mustard Seed the only threeyearold of the
