ANOTHER KENTUCKY TRACK J 0 Keene and Associates Secure Option on 230 Acres of Ground Site Opposite Ironton Ohio OhioWhere Where Mile and Eighth Course CourseYill Yill Be Erected LEXINGTON Ky June 2 J O Kcene of Lexington and associates at Lexington Ashland Cattietsburg Ky Huntingtcn W V and Ironton Ohio today concluded nego l tiations for options on a site for ai upto date fair grounds and racing plant to be owned and operated by the TriState Fair and Racing Association AssociationThe The site comprises 230 acres aud is in Greenup County Kentucky seven miles out from Ashland on the Ashland and Greenup highway now Hearing completion It is on the main line of the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad between Ashland and Cincinnati It is twentytwo miles from Huntington W Va and two miles from Ironton Ohio which is reached via a great bridge just opened at Russell Ky It is sixteen miles Irom Ports ¬ mouth Ohio also reached by bridge over the Ohio River RiverThe The site is about onehalf mile from the Ohio River and has never been under water of the greatest floods The land lays very level and according to George T Horine expert track builder who has just returned from there not much grading will be required to complete the track which is to l e one and oueeightus miles the only track of that dimension in Kentucky KentuckyMr Mr Keene who is to be general manager of the plant today stated that it is hoped to have it ready for a meeting the last two weeks in August he having been assured by builders of grandstands that a structure capable of seating 5000 persons can be com ¬ pleted by that time Stables for 500 horses can be completed by that time also It is intended by Keene and associates to con ¬ struct the grandstand with a view to en ¬ larging its capacity during the coining au ¬ tumn There is a population of approximate ¬ ly 750000 people within a radius of fifty miles of the site of the proposed trade within easy riding distance of Charleston W Va and Columbus Ohio is 120 miles from Cin ¬ cinnati and 11G miles from Lexington
