AVon driving; second and third the same. ROUTLEDGE, under stout restraint in the early running, came fast after entering the stretch and, passing the leaders, won going away. AVELLFINDER was prominent throughout and, after holding the lead briefly, outstayed MUSKALLONGE. The latter set a fast pace to the last turn and held on gamely at the end. MERCURY began slowly, hut raced into a forward position in the first half, then tired. TREVELYAN was in close quarters while rounding the last turn and finished resolutely when clear. VIOLINIST rami in close pjfj-suif of IBIRH BRIGADIER to tlie strtteli and took tlic lead, but tired in the stretch and just lasted for third place.. OA IT ROCK met witliritcrfcrencc. but came fast when clear and showed an excellent ierformance. IUISII BRIGADIER set a great paw. but quit badly after going three-quarters in the lead. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. REBCKK drew away from his opponents with a rush while rounding the last turn aud held on tenaciously when challenged. LEGHORN was taken back and saved until entering the stretch, then clo.cd up gamely, but could not pass the leader. Both Kelsay and Carroll used rough riding methods through the stretch and RERCKK and LEGHORN were disqualified. The official finish was EXCELSIS firtJt. IHMP.LK CROSS second. OVERTAKE third. EXCEI-SIS was hard ridden and ran a game race, but the leaders always held him safe. DOUBLE CROSS easily outstayed the others, but OVERTAKE was pulled u;i at the end. Scratched M022 Roulette. Won easily: second and third driving. MESSENGER was outpaced in the early running, but followed the leader closely to the stretch and. racing into a long lead in the last eighth, won under restraint. DBST FLOWER improved her position steadily and finished with a rush. DONGES raced forwardly for the entire race anil outfmished McKEE in lh final drive. McKEE raced on the inside for the first half mile aud was forced to come extremely wide when entering the stretch for a clear course aud finished fast ami gamely. RUNELISE set a fast 1 early pace and tired in the final drive. SPOT CASH quit after going a good half mile. MARK TWAIN raced creditablv. The others diil not change their- positions materially. THIMRLE, outpaced in the early running, closed up rapidly on the inside and outlinislied SMOKE SCREEN. The latter set a fast pace in the early running, but tired in the stretch and fell badly lame. Won ridden out; second and third driving. GREAT LUCK responded gamely to hard riding and, wearing the leaders down in the stretch, was drawing clear at the tinish. MOONRAKER took the lead at once and set a fast pace for five-eighths, but tired when challenged and just lasted long enough to withstand ROYS RELIEVE HES challenge. The latter slipped through on the inside when entering the stretch and moved up fast on the outside of MOON RAKER, but he was crowded back when GREAT LCCK crossed over. MONARDELIV rcived ground on the turns and finished fast. FELSIDE began slowly and closed a big gap in the early running, then tirpd. VANDERRURG raced well.
