c i t l - t j j 1 i : : GRAND NATIONAL FEE RAISED LONDON, England, December 12. The decision of the directors of the Liverpool meeting to increase the cost to start a horse for the Grand National Steeplechase to 00 was not hurriedly arrived at. The possible effect of the change was considered from every viewpoint, and the executives are hopeful that the main object will be achieved. The fear in some quarters that the fences will be reduced in any way is groundless. The width of the last obstacle is being extended by several feet, and the second may be treated in a similar way.
