EDWASD J. RYAN IS DEAD NEW YORK, N. Y., December 23. Edward J. Ryan, a familiar figure on eastern race tracks for a quarter pf a century, died at his home In Brooklyn Saturday after a Ions illness. Wr. Ryan was a brother-in-law of M. J. Murphy, who Is training a stable of horses at New Orleans, and also of Daniel Murphy. During the war Mr. Ryan took cluirge of the sale of Liberty bonds ou the various race tracks and through his efforts hundreds of thousands of dollars was realized by the government. He became nationally known under tho sobriquet of "Liberty Loan" Ryan. Funeral sorvioes will be hold Tuesday I morning at his lato residence.
