HIGH JOCKEY FEES POPULAR SAN DIEGO, Cal., December 29. Commenting on the report that there were a few horsemen at Tijuana that did not approve of the increased jockey fees, a prominent owner said : "I havent come across any myself, but I have heard that some owners want a reduction in the jockey fees charged here. Of course, there are some people who dont want to pay for any kind of service, but I wouldnt think it likely the management would consider such a thing. I wouldnt like to see a reduction happen myself. The idea is to go ahead, not backward, and I think that is the right idea. The boys earn every dollar they are paid, especially in bad weather, and the quality of the riders cant be kept up to the standard unless they are fairly paid. "I. dont expect to see Tijuana reduce the 0 and 5 jockeys fees and every horseman who can see beyond his stable door knows that they would be right In refusing to consider the tiling for a moment."
