NOMINATIONS FOR STAKES Made by Incorporated Racing RacingFirms Firms Must Be Transferred to Individuals XEW YORK N Y February 20 At a recent meeting of the Jockey Club stewards the matter of stake nominations made by incorporated breeding and racing firms was the subject of a drastic ruling Un ¬ der the rules of racing only an individual or a partnership may conduct a racing sta ¬ ble The new interpretation of the rules will allow a corporation to make stake nomi ¬ nations but these entries are not valid unless transferred to a regularly registered individual or partnership at least thirty days before the running of the race raceThe The resolutions adopted by the stewards In the matter follow followWhereas Whereas It has been brought to the attention of the stewards of the Jockey Club that certain entries have been made in stakes which might be deemed irregu ¬ lar and not strictly in accordance with the Rules of Racing and andWhereas Whereas No 229 of the Tlules of Racing states that thatIf If any case occurred which is not or which is alleged not to be provided for by these rules it shall be determined by the stewards in such manner as they think just and conformable to the usages of the turf turfBe Be it resolved That all entries of the abovementioned character be and they hereby are declared valid provided how ¬ ever that said entries be transferred to an individual or partnership in accord ¬ ance with the Rules of Racing thirty days prior to the date of starting The committee presented the following amendment to the Rules of Racing which was approved by the stewards and the sec ¬ retary authorized to publish in The Racing Calendar and take the course as provided by the bylaws of the Jockey Club 79A In produce races and races which close for weanlings entries may also be made by a corporation but no horse shall be entitled to start under such entry unless said entry has been trans ¬ ferred to an individual or partnership on or before October 31 of its yearling form formAll All such entries not so transferred shall be null and void and the nominator be held liable for any forfeits forfeits79B 79B In the event of entries being made by a corporation or stock company in produce races and races which close for weanlings there shall simultaneously bo lodged in the office of the Jockey Club a written statement verified by the secretary giving the names of all the officers and stockholders thereof and any and all changes in the stockholders of such corporation or company shall likewise be forthwith lodged in said oHice Every stockholder of such cor ¬ poration or company shall be deemed a part owner of any and all horses entered by it under the provisions of Part X and of Rule 227G of these rules
