PILADES SCORES THIRD WIN Orestes Colt Triumphs Over Ponce in Impressive Style Ike mills Tpscts Calculations In Defeating DefeatingTan Tan II and Salamander Cuban CubanKiller Killer Shows Up Well HAVANA Cuba March 22 The races at Oriental Park this afternoon were run over a track as fast as it has been any day this meeting as well balanced fields went to the post in the different races interesting con ¬ tests were in order orderPilades Pilades the Orestes Idiola colt that races for the Caimito Stable scored his third vic ¬ tory at Oriental Park when he won the first race a dash of three and a half furlongs for twoyearolds In his previous start he beat Ponce a head and today he beat the same colt three parts of a length Pilades showed that he is made of the right stuff by standing a drive from the top of the stretch to the finish He began from the outside and followed the leaders to the stretch turn where he slipped through next to the inside rail when they went wide Clements finish on Ponce was not a very vigorous one and in the final drive Fields certainly put it over him himIn In the second Mary Rock outran her op ¬ ponents from the start and was never headed She was ridden by the Cuban apprentice Per nia and he was forced to shake up his mount to keep her going long enough to beat Brid gette by a length Mad Nell was third an ¬ other length away Pernia is rapidly coming to the front and is as bright a prospect as has been developed here this winter He rides equally as well over a long distance of ground as he does in sprint races At the conclusion of the meeting here he goes to Bowie to join the stable that W A Carter shipped from here a week or ten days ago agoColossus Colossus found no trouble in beating those he met in the third race Walls waited with him until rounding the far turn when he moved up and went around his opponents with a rush assuming an easy lead and won in hand by a couple of lengths from Mary Maxim Flying Orb was third thirdCanny Canny Lady raced under restraint the first threeeighths in the fourth and rounding the far turn slipped through 011 the inside and in the final sixteenth assumed an easy lead At the end she led Pittsburg by three lengths The latter was a head in front of Red El niont made the pace to the stretch turn where he ran out This put him out of con ¬ tention and he was eased up at the end endIke Ike Mills upset all calculations by beating the two choices Tan II and Salamander in the fifth race All Aglow went to the front right after the start and made pace to the stretch turn where he quit suddenly Ike Mills came through next to the inside rail at this point where the leaders went wide and in the final eighth drew away to win and at the end was a length and a half in front of Tan II which beat Salamander by a half length All Aglow and Blazing Fire pulled up lame lameFrank Frank Delbarrio the prominent Cuban turfman was stricken suddenly by appendix citis Wednesday night and was operated on by Dr Benigno Suzas at his clinic He was reported as resting easily easilyThomas Thomas Monahaii was notified that J S Cosden wealthy turfman and oil operator would arrive at Havana tomorrow from Miami with a party of six friends for a short visit visitJ J IT Moody acting for J Mueller disposed of Mayrose to O Yzquerido YzqueridoThe The Rosario Stable sold the fouryearold Fasenda to E B Ogden The mare will con ¬ tinue in charge of J J McCafferty McCaffertyNews News reached here this morning of the death of Mrs Elizabeth Connors mother of the wellknown turf correspondent C J Con ¬ nors at her home in Montreal yesterday yesterdayE E L Fitzgerald will take to Kentucky along with other horses a chestnut colt re ¬ cently foaled by Miss Proctor
