CUBAN TURFMAN DEAD HAVANA Cuba March 22 Universal re ¬ gret was manifested among horsemen when it was learned that Colonel J De Estrampcs had died at his home at Vedade at 11 oclock this morning after a lingering illness His cnd was not unexpected Death was primarily due to a bullet wound in his breast which he received fighting for the cause of Cubas freedom freedomColonel Colonel De Estrampes had been identified with racing in Cuba since the inception of the sport at Oriental Park nine years ago He was one of the leading Cuban owners at the track and his colors during the sum ¬ mer months have been seen at Montreal and other Canadian tracks He was regarded as cue of the stanchest friends of racing on the Island Republic His last illness prevented him from visiting Oriental Park this winter to see his horses run runHis His stable has been in charge of J Hope for some time and in all probability his widow will also be an ifrdent devotee of racing and will continue to maintain the establishment Sister Cecelia the twoyear old scheduled to start in the De Eslrampes colors ia the first race was withdrawn owing to her owners death
