YEARLING MARKET OF 1923 More thoroughbred yearlings were sold by auction in 1923 than in any year since 1917. This reflects the desirable fact that American stud farms are increasing their production and in keeping with that encouraging feature the total sales of yearlings at auction during the past year surpassed the record figures of 1922. The total of 1923 was ,290,120, while in the preceding year it was ,174,785. The average per head was a trifle lower than 1922, but in every way there was general satisfaction expressed over the results of the yearling market of 1923.
