FIRE AT CHURCHILL DOWNS i LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. G. Fire this morning, caused by an overheated stove in the . stable of John E. Madden at Churchill Downs, ! j destroyed the barn in which Mr. Madden had thirty thoroughbreds quartered and also i the barn next to him, occupied by the horses of Carl "Wiedemann. All the horses in both barns were saved. . In Memoriam was led out of his stall before , . the "Wiedemann barn caught fire and was placed in safe quarters. The loss on the two barns is placed at t 0,000. This includes large quantities of; feed and stable tack.
