FAMOUS BOOKMAKER DIES Lucius Phillips died at his home in this city last Friday, January 11, at the age of sixty-eight, pneumonia carrying him off. Familiarly called "Fatty" Phillips, he was one of a group of widely-known bookmakers in the days when Chicago was a great center of racing and contemporary with such noted members of the profession as Marcus Cart-wright, Joseph Ullman, Barney Schreiber, Gus Bluhm and others, who like himself, wcro well known wherever racing flourished in this country. His years considered, he was well preserved and in good health up to the time his fatal sickness was contracted and news of his death will come a3 a shock to many friends in many communities.
