Preakness Stakes to Be Run May 12 BALTIMORE, Md., March 11. The Maryland Jockey Club has selected Monday, May 12, as the date for the running of the 350,000 Preakness Stakes at the historic Pimlico course. This date is five days before the Kentucky Derby and will give ample opportunity for owners to start their best in both the Preakness and golden Derby. The famous Woodlawn Vase, now in the possession of Walter J. Salmon, through the victory of Vigil last year, will be put in competition by the courtesy of Mr. Salmon.
