RAIN AT TIJUANA TRACK Latest News of Prospective Candidates in Coffroth Handicap to Be Run Next Sunday. SAN DIEGO, CaL, March 27. A veritable downpour of rain which fell last night converted the Tijuana track into a sea of mud and unless a brisk wind and a warm sun should visit these parts during the next two days indications point that the sixth renewal of the Coffroth Handicap of 0,000 will be decided next Sunday over a muddy track. A wet course will not detract from the race, for at least eighteen star, thoroughbreds will go postward even if the track is a trying one. Should it dry out between now and Sunday it is expected that twenty or more will start. Among the high-class horses- that will sport colors in the Coffroth Handicap are Exterminator, which will be coupled with Muttikins as the W. S. Kilmer-J. K. L. ttoss entry ; Little Chief, Be Frank and Sunnyland grouped as the I. V. Humphreys-Bronx Stable entry ; All Over and Abadane as the C. B. Irwin entry; Osprey, Runstar, Lady Astor, Blanc Seing, Prince Tii Tii, Cherokee Lee, Planet, Supercargo, John S. Reardon, Victoire and Paula Shay. Truth to tell, Eterminator never looked better and his most recent trial was impressive and one that promised much in a speed way for next Sundays race. Exterminator worked a mile and an eighth in 1:55 liandily, the half in 47 and the mile in 1 :41. He will be ridden in his engagement by jockey Albert Johnson, who has graced the saddle on the back of the grand veteran long-distance champion in most of his triumphs. Exterminator will carry top weight of 130 pounds. The burning question at this hour is whether he will be able to pack this crushing impost and down the splendid thoroughbreds that will oppose him Sunday. He will certainly meet formidable opponents in " Osprey, Little Chief, Blanc Seing, Cherry Tree and Runstar, and should Exterminator vanquish this field then McDaniel will have gained the sobriquet of the turfs miracle man. Blanc Seing sent the hopes of trainer Andy Blakely soaring yesterday when in his raco with Dominique, in which, although defeated, he worked out a mile and an eighth in 1 :51. which is two-fifths of a second faster than the track record. The latest trials of the Coffroth Handicap candidates are as follows : Exterminator and Muttiuks 17, 1:14; 1:41, 1:55, handily. Osprey 18, 1:13, 1:39, 1:53, easing up.
