FRANCES LEADING RIDERS Dealing with the leading jockeys riding in France, the "Matin," in an article, says that English. In 1909, however, French - jockeys at one time all the jockeys in France were obtained some success, notably Maurice Barat, who won the Grand Prix de Paris that year and was top of the winning list with ninety-four victories. This year again a Frenchman, C. II. Semblat, heads the list of winning jockeys with eighty-nine victories- to., -his . credit, . closely followed by Garner United States, Esling and ONeill.
