END AT KEENEY PARK Whimsical Lucky Play Triumphs in Carling Hotel Handicap Necromancer Second and Sun God II Third Boris Unplaced Be ¬ fore Meetings Largest Crowd BAYARD Fla March 30 Lucky Play the whimsical son of Fair Play which does his best only when he can be convinced that his rider does not care to have him extend himself turned in another of his consistent efforts at Keeney Park today to take the Carling Hotel Handicap and win a massive silver service for his owner G F Jenkins Lucky Plays victory was made possible through the clever riding of jockel Earl Taylor who had him away in the lead and kept him there throughout under mild re ¬ straint which cajoled the gelding into the belief that he was running away It was a horse race throughout to the keen delight of the greatest crowd that had thronged Keeney Park during the meeting The grandstand and lawn were packed with humanity while even standing room was at a premium on the spacious club house veranda verandaLucky Lucky Play raced into the lead followed during the early running by Sun God II and Necromancer with W Fronk on Boris con ¬ tent to rate along in fourth place At the half mile post there was a general closing up in which Sun God II suffered because of his rail position He was forced back to fourth place while Boris moved up to dispute Lucky Plays lead One clip of Taylors whip followed immediately by a tightened rein and Lucky Play moved off into the slight lead which he found no difficulty in holding from Necromancer at the end The latter was driving to the limit to withstand Sun God ILs determined but belated challenge It was a tired Boris that finished fourth in advance of Clarie stablemate of the winner and Congo II owned by the Harned Brotlieljsf whose colors Boris carried ti tiPJIESENTS PJIESENTS COCKTAIL SEIIVICE James Lynch manager of the Carling Hotel of Jacksonville presented the cocktail service to owner Jenkins JenkinsManager Manager Lynch has long been an ardent devotee of racing through his association with hotels at New Orleans and other cities where racing has been conducted during the last fifteen years yearsRendezvous Rendezvous well selected favorite in the opening number led home a big field of sprinters winning from Coloratura in handy style Outpaced by Bavelle Fronk for the first half the son of Tryster and Crimson Rambler moved up on the far turn and forg ¬ ing into a slight lead on the stretch turn held the fast coming Coloratura safe in the final test Coloratura came with fine speed after being among the second division and beat Bavelle Fronk for second money Tommy Foster and Complication both weakened after a good halfmile George E Phillips the winner owner was presented with a hand ¬ some silver cup by the owners of the Big Store in Jacksonville JacksonvilleSpanish Spanish Princess running in the colors of her new owner J H Edwards scored her second consecutive victory when she gained the decision in the second race over one mile and a sixteenth The winner was a well liked second choice C Turk had the mount and he displayed good horsemanship He got his mount away with an advantage and allowing Romp to go out and set the pace kept his mount in close touch with the leader to the halfmile post where he sent her into the lead and Spanish Princess coming down the home stretch with undiminished speed easily outstayed Saints Fancy The latter raced Romp into defeat and set sail for the leader Near the eighth post Saints Fancy loomed up dangerous but Turk gave the leader a touch of the whip and she bounded away from her rival Solo coming fast on the outside got up in time to account for third place Romp and Immernoch quit badly Grand Bay was never much of a factor factorFALL FALL IX FOUHTJI HACE HACEA A bad looking fall resulted in the running of the juvenile race when Texas Longhorn running in fourth place as the field swung into the home stretch stumbled and fell and Chicago Lad following close behind collided with him and also went down M Knight on Texas Longhorn and J Guerra astrido Chicago Lad were both thrown violently and had to be removed to the track hospital where an examination disclosed that they were uninjured outside of a severe shaking up The race went to Andra the favorite which raced in close proximity to Blind Pal the pacemaker to the threeeighths post Continue on twelfth imge
