DERBY TIMES SINCE 1900 Interesting Exhibit Covering Last Thirty-One Runnings of Kentuckys Famous Race. To the marvelous Twenty Grand belongs the honor of running the fastest Kentucky Derby on record. When the Greentree Stables champion carried off the coveted race in 1931, he ran the mile and a quarter in 2:01%, thus surpassing the long standing record of 2:03% made by the illustrious Old Rosebud in 1914. In connection with Twenty Grands new Derby record a glance at the fractions of that race in comparison to those of other years reveals the wonderful speed maintained by the son of St. Germans throughout the trying mile and a quarter.
