TURFMEN HEARTILY ENDORSE FAIR GROUNDS RACING PLAN PLANLabrot Labrot Receives Telegrams From All Points Commending Enterprise EnterpriseNEW NEW ORLEANS La May 13 As the drive for funds through the sale of 4 per cent debenture bonds to completely finance the restoration of racing at the Fair Grounds next winter was begun today fol ¬ lowing yesterdays meeting of the fifteen teams which will carry on the campaign favorable comment was received from a number of the most prominent citizens of New Orleans Sylvester W Labrot Jr chairman of the Lets Fill the Gap com ¬ mittee was in receipt of scores of telegrams from turfmen elsewhere All congratulated the men behind the movement on their plans to bring back the highest class of winter rac ¬ ing to this city cityAmong Among the outoftown contingent display ¬ ing interest in the progress of the Fair Grounds Corporations drive is Edward J Brennan of Maryland who advised Mr La ¬ brot that many of the eastern owners of thoroughbreds have expressed a desire to race again in New Orleans OrleansRoy Roy Carruthers manager of Keeneland Lexingtons successful nonprofit track Thomas Piatt Thomas B Cromwell and a number of others telegraphed the wish that the movement might be a complete success successAmong Among the prominent Orleanians who have been identified with community drives and who indorsed the plan are A B Pat ¬ terson E F Creekmore and Crawford H Ellis EllisI I heartily approve the work that Mr La ¬ brot and his associates are doing to restoro high class racing to New Orleans was the comment of Mr Ellis Unquestionably the type of racing which is planned will provo to be a great asset to our city Telegrams cityTelegrams came to Mr Labrot and the committee from Kentucky Maryland Illi ¬ nois New York and other racing states statesA A noon luncheon is scheduled for Wednes ¬ day at which some of the outstanding busi ¬ ness and civic leaders will be present
