Michigan Notes DETROIT Mich June 9 B W Stivers who has several horses quartered at the Fair Grounds in charge of J Willis arrived from his home in Lexing ¬ ton Ky and will remain here for one week C J Edwards trainer for the C A ONeil Jr stable received word that his family is en route from the Edwards home in Miami Fla W W Edgar popular member of the Detroit Free Press sports staff visited in the press box at the Fair Grounds on Mon ¬ day Edgar who specializes in golf and boxing is an ardent thoroughbred devotee Jockey Joe Marrero swung into action for the first time at the current Fair Grounds meeting astride Mrs C C Win ters Franco Saxon in the opening race Wednesday WednesdayI I Jake Hbltman returned from Lexington Ky after attending the final rites for the late J O Keene George Stratton whose horses are being conditioned here by William Molter sent word that he will be on hand when Hysteri ¬ cal carries his colors in the 7500 Cadillac Handicap next Saturday Stratton comes to Detroit from California Weather conditions permitting Sharpe Field expects to have the new F ir Grounds steeplechase course ready by June 20 Four of the jumps have been completed thus far farMrs Mrs W Graves Sparks wife of the Brown Hotel Stable trainer is an arrival from the Sparks home in Louisville Ky and plans to remain for the balance of the i meeting at the Motor City Jockey Ray Adair has served his suspen ¬ sion for rough riding and he expects to re ¬ turn to the saddle here in the near future Adair has given first call on his services to i Harry C Richards Mrs Grace Allen sent word to trainer William Molter that she will arrive here In time to witness the performance of her Florizan Beau in the Cadillac Handicap Florizan Beau was the victor in the Inau ¬ gural Handicap at the Fair Grounds on i May 22 T Trusler arrived from Ohio with Na broj and Little Abner property of Briner Hammack and C M Wilkinsons Mor pan panE E G Bowlin checked in from Beulah Park with Marcelawn and Edward M who are to race here under the silks of Brower Capper Mrs Everal Fishers Bustling Jane and Jag a jumper belonging to Miss Betty Couzens arrived Friday and were added to the mixed string WG Wilson is condi ¬ tioning tioningTrainer Trainer C J Edwards Jr reported that C A O Neils Strutting Dude has been turned out and will be out of action for several weeks
