Caliente Horsemen Granted Increase in Sunday Purses PursesAGUA AGUA CALIENTE Mexico May 27 A threatened strike for higher purses by horsemen here was averted yesterday when the stable owners and the track manage ¬ ment got together and effected a compro ¬ mise miseThe The horsemen have been demanding that the minimum purse be raised from 600 to 800 which would add 2400 weekly to the tracks distribution as 12 races have been the regular Sunday order The track coun ¬ tered by showing attendance has decreasecl in recent months Its operators couldnfe see a financial out outFinally Finally it was agreed that a thirteenth race hereafter will be run the additional business to some extent repaying the tracks treasury for the boost which was granted 100 added to all purses for ¬ merly 600 and 700 except the extra number which remains at 600 Though handicaps were not mentioned in the set ¬ tlement announcement it is understood they will be upped in proportion to their former value
