AL SABATH National counsellor of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association who addressed members on the activities of the association in the various racing sectors Plans of HBP A to Set Up Home For Aged Horsemen Discussed Associations Aims Outlined4 At Hawthorne Meet Laud Track Officials Cooperation CooperationSTICKNEY STICKNEY 111 June 1 More than 100 horsemen met Wednesday evening at Haw ¬ thorne to outline plans for continued close cooperation with the track officials and ambitions of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association for the coming year yearM M G Farnsworth vicepresident of the Middle West Division of the HBPA Al Gaal secretary of the division and Albert Sabath national Counsellor were the prin ¬ cipal speakers speakersSabath Sabath gave a most interesting report concerning the activities of the HBPA in all localities in which racing is now being conducted He reported that approximately 90 per cent of all races won in the United States this season had been by HBPA members He stated too that all track officials and racing commissions have been cooperating wholeheartedly with problems concerning horsemen horsemenSabath Sabath said saidAll All this has been done by practical methods and mutuel assistance Tracks throughout the country believe we are do ¬ ing helpful things for the sport and well continue to build racing racingTo To Be Conducted as Club ClubSabath Sabath outlined plans that are now being formulated for creating a home for aged horsemen Present plans call for acquiring a farm where a few horses will be kept All of the residents will be men who spent a good portion of their lives on the turf This will be conducted strictly as a club and by no means a poor house People with or without money will be able to live there thereThe The place will be for those who have taken a part in racing at the track They will be able to spend their declining years surrounded by the horses they love and by horsemen with whom they have been as ¬ sociated sociatedThe The plan was enthusiastically receiped Some tracks have according to HBPA offi ials offered to put on special days and races from which the profits will be do ¬ nated to the horsemens home and a num ¬ ber of radio performers motionpicture stars and others in the amusement field have offered to donte their talents for a series of shows to be put on for the benefit of the home homeThe The following were elected directors for the ensuing year yearBennett Bennett Creech Jake Lowenstein Carl McDonald Karl Mayer Ben Endovino Jonn Oglesby Frank Nugent Emil Dene mark Dr F Norlander Ben Rosenheim Ruth Sidell Clifford Porter Ralph Salvino Roy Slomer J P Keezek Frand McDonald and Paul Kelley
