Attractive Openiu Card at Homewood HomewoodList List but One Claiming Race j For Mondays Inaugural See Crack Field for Beau Pere PereHOMEWOOD HOMEWOOD III June 12 Although entries for the 5000 Beau Pere Handicap which is to feature Mondays inaugural program of the Arlington Park Jockey Clubs season do not close until Friday the abundance of sprinters of class among the many horses here is a safe guarantee that the race will draw a large and representa ¬ tive field fieldTo To be run over six furlongs the Beau Pere is open for horses three years old or older and trainers of horses taking part in the dash must accept weight prior to the closing of entries at the usual time Satur ¬ day morning Weights will be announced early Saturday morning morningIn In addition to the feature Mondays Washington Park presentation will include six allowances or purse events and a single claiming race The six closed numbers are a one mile and a sixteenth turf course opportunity for threeyearolds and up ¬ ward two six furlongs affairs for three yearolds a mile event for fouryearolds and upward a race for twoyearold fillies j at five and onehalf furlongs and a purse for maiden juvenile colts and geldings also at five and onehalf furlongs furlongsOver Over 200 Head on Grounds GroundsWhile While trainers were advancing those of their horses intended for early engage ¬ ments here through the final stages of preparation a census of thoroughbreds on the grounds disclosed more than 200 at the local course As the tally was being com ¬ pleted additional horses were arriving and many more shipments are scheduled to ar ¬ rive before Mondays opening Almost daily during the week stables will check in from scattered parts of the country while at the same time horsemen will be moving their stables from Hawthorne where the Lincoln Fields meeting closes Saturday All of the larger and more fashionable stables at Hawthorne have stalls reserved here while smaller establishments will be taken care of at the Lincoln Fields plant plantProminent Prominent among stables on the grounds are those of Louis B Mayer H M Woolf H P Headley Mose Shapoff G J Stem pel Mrs George Poulson Allen Drum heller W G McCarthy Willard Baker and Jules Fink Ben Jones with the Calumet stable of champions and Edward Snyder with William Helis valuable string are coming west from New York this week and additional arrivals from California will include Hurst Philpot with his useful band and E L Fitzgerald with the Nor ¬ man W Church horses horsesThe The first stake on the long roster of Arlington Park fixtures to be renewed will be the 10000 Hyde Park Stakes for two yearolds and it will have its annual pres ¬ entation a week from Wednesday Entries for the Hyde Park close on Saturday and it is certain to attract all of the better midwestern youngsters and representa ¬ tives from many of the recently arrived larger stables as well It will be contested over a distance of five and onehalf fur ¬ longs longsAmong Among other stakes to be run during the meeting are the 50000 Stars and Stripes handicap 50000 Arlington Handi ¬ cap 50000 Arlington Classic 25000 Ar ¬ lington Futurity 15000 Lassie Stakes and six others worth 10000 added each eachFollowing Following the Arlington Park meeting Washington will be the scene of the regu ¬ lar annual session of the Washington Park Jockey Club the season running through September 7 During the period of its operation the Washington Park Jockey Club will renew the 50000 American Derby 50000 Washington Park Handicap 25000 Washington Park Futurity 20000 Beverly Handicap 15000 Princess Pat Stakes and six features of 10000 added value each
