LESTER G BEDWELL Saddled two Mrs W W Adams winners on yester ¬ days Narragansett Park program Oidenasai Gains More Laurels Through Quonset Point Victory Nips General Don Nickey W At Narragansett Chuckalot Also Wins for Adams Stable StableNARRAGANSETT NARRAGANSETT PARK Pawtucket R I June 23 Mrs Weston W Adams very consistent Oidenasai added more laurels this afternoon by taking the measure of seven rivals in the featured Quonset Point Purse sixfurlong dash at Narragaansett Park The hardhitting son of Transmute Miss Mars came to the end of the test a halflength before R W Collins General Don who was a length and a half clear of Mrs L Wagners Nickey W WLight Light rain that fell prior to the first race and changed to an intermittent drizzle after the third race kept the fans off the apron in front of the grandstand A crowd of 10867 was treated to formful racing dur ¬ ing the first six events with four choices being successful Oidenasais victory proved a double for his owner trainer L G Bed well and jockey George Hettinger The stables silks were carried down in front in the fifth race by Chuckalot who man ¬ aged to hold on long enough to stave off a late bid from Marlet Stables Play Tag who had been installed a 13to10 choice Chuckalot returned the tidy sum of 1860 1860Leaders Leaders Necks Apart ApartOidenasai Oidenasai broke smartly from the six furlong chute Hettinger was content to remain in fourth position back of General Don V J DElias Judge Davey and Mrs C E Nelsons Probation The fcrst three were necks apart going to the halfmile pole three lengths ahead of the Adams colt coltOn On the turn out of the backstretch Gen ¬ eral Don increased his lead to nearly a couple of lengths with Oidenasai another length back but starting his challenge on the extreme outside The move that car ¬ ried the son of Transmute into second posi ¬ tion was accomplished very quickly Hettin ¬ ger bringing him around Judge Davey and Probation both of whom were starting to wilt under the rapid pace paceAt At the final marker General Don held a twolength lead but it was evident that the ultimate winner was going to make an Issue of the real test and under steady pushing Oidenasai finally collared the leader and edged away inside the final 70 yard marker markerGeneral General Don had no trouble saving the place as Nickey W unleashed his late charge to take the minor award awardSandy Sandy Strand Stables Hydrant who was regarded by many to offer the chief com ¬ petition was unable to better his position when called on by jockey Richard and wound up sixth sixthOidenasai Oidenasai was winning his fourth purse in seven starts and churned the six fur ¬ longs in the acceptable time of 111 and paid 500
