Dade Park to Inaugurate 26Day Meeting August 7 7Dates Dates for Annual Session Are Approved by State Commission CommissionOWENSBORO OWENSBORO Ky June 23 Dates for the twentyfifth meeting of the Dade Park Jockey Club have been approved by the Kentucky State Racing Commission and the sport will get underway at the west ern Kentucky track Saturday August 7 The meeting will continue through Labor Day September 6 a period of 26 racing days daysJames James C Ellis president and general manager of the Dade Park Jockey Club is of the opinion that the 1948 season will be another banner one He has been as ¬ sured by a number of wellknown stables that they will send horses for the summer meetings meetingsLester Lester E Yaeger associate manager has announced that a large number of applica ¬ tions for stalls have been received at the Owensboro office of the Dade Park Jockey Club These include a large number of stables that haye raced at Dade Park in recent years and others that will be mak ¬ ing their first appearance Dade Park has always had plenty of thoroughbreds for the summer meetings and a full house is expected for opening day August 7 The stalls along the backstretch and on the turns can take care of more than 600 horses horsesThe The minimum purse this summer will be 900 with a handicap carrying a purse of 1500 being carded for every Saturday and Labor Day The Governors Handi ¬ cap for a purse of 1800 highlights the 26day program
