Occupatic Makes Good In Boston Club Purse PurseOddsOn OddsOn Favorite Under Drive To Take Measure of Triple Time TimeBy By FRED GALIANI GALIANIStaff Staff Correspondent CorrespondentSUFFOLK SUFFOLK DOWNS East Boston Mass May 8 Favorite players got their second winner of the day when R S Parker Jrs oddson Occupatic took the featured Boston Club Purse by a half length over Mrs B F Listers Triple Time The latter led for most of the journey but drifted out badly in the stretch run and finished way out in the middle of the track Cobbles Stables Bully Bunting was five lengths back in third place placeClarence Clarence Roberts was astride the winner who paid 380 for his sixfurlong journey in 113 In the previous race 5000 claimers ran the same distance in 112 over the fast track Occupatic was winning his second race in three starts this year his other score coming at Lincoln Downs The son of Occupation Sailorette fiinshed fourth to Handsome Teddy in the Paul Re ¬ vere Handicap in his other start startIt It was a perfect day for racing and 9885 fans turned out for the afternoon They had to wait until the fourth and sixth races to get any of the choices home Num ¬ ber seven and five proved to be the right ones in the Daily Double with HiPilate and Virginia R W combining for a 17140 payoff payoffIt It was a twohorse race from start to finish in the Boston Club Purse Triple Time flashed out of the gate in a burst of yellow silks and scooted out to a two length lead as Occupatic finally forged out of a pack of four horses to take over the pursuit duties Triple Time under Norman Mercier continued on the front end down the backstretch with Occupatic running along in the second spot There was quite a gap between him and the rest of the field and it was obvious the race was to these two twoRounding Rounding the turn and straightening out for the stretch Triple Time continued to lead while Roberts sent Occupatic up to challenge With Roberts whipping left handed and Mercier righthanded they straightened out for the drive Triple Time came over and Roberts had to take Occu ¬ patic up and bring him to the inside of Triple Time The latter despite her bear ¬ ing over to the outside rail was not out of the hunt yet and Roberts was forced to hit Occupatic five times within the last sixteenth to get his mount home by a half length Triple Time might have proved a tougher customer if not the winner if she had not drifted out as much as she did losing enough ground that meant the mar ¬ gin of defeat
