Hill Gail Has Leg Growth Will Not Race Until Fall FallCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky May 9 Calumet Farms Hill Gail probably has run his last race until late fall or perhaps next winter winterAn An xray taken yesterday morning revealed a superficial growth on the near foreleg and trainer Ben Jones after consulting with owner Mrs War ¬ ren Wright and veterinarians decided this afternoon to fire the in jured leg legThis This means the 1952 Kentucky Derby winner will be out of action for at least three months passing up the Preakness and Belmont Stakes as well as the early Chicago stakes for which Hill Gail is nominated nominatedJones Jones had Hill Gail galloped early this morning and the colt did not take a lame step But after the exercise doctors E E Watson and Alex Hart hill took xrays of the injured member and later advised Jones to fire the growth growthI I probably could run him in the Preakness and win it Jones said but hes too good a horse to take chances with withJones Jones doesnt know how the injury started The colt acted badly in the paddock before the Derby and possibly could have hurt himself at that time
