WHAT ER LOU AND FOUND The opportunity to purchase such proved good racehorses as John Huffman will send under the auctioneers hammer at Hawthorne next Saturday is not often presented to turf ¬ men What er Lou has conclusively demon ¬ strated striated this year that he is in the first flight of the western handicap division He has all the I requisites of a good racehorse being fast game a good weight carrier and at home on either a fast or a heavy track trackWhat track What er Lous Louis first start this year was in the Inaugural Handicap at St Louis which he won over a slow track in 1 45 beating Harry Duke Dr Sheppard Fervor The Elector Buckvidere Duckier Timemaker Tidemark and four others His next essay was in the Club Members Handicap over the same track in which he defeated Lieber Libber Karl Elusive Counter Tenor and Our Chauce Chaucer doing the mile and a quarter in 208 In tho thou Laurel Stake St Louis he was a good third to Ed Far rell ell and Gibraltar six furlongs in the fast time of 1 13J He then was next started in the Oak wood Handicap at Washington Park for which Fervor beat him a head in such startling time as l51i for nine furlongs Imp Timemaker Tidemark Judge Denny Deny and Bannockburn Bannock being behind the pair pairIt spirit It was truly a grand race What er Lou carried 108 to Fervors 103 pounds His next race was still more remarkable it being in the Great Western Handicap in which he ran second to Goodrich at a mile and a half done in the unprecedented time of 23Ci Morte Mote Fonse Fosse then in rare form Bing Being Binger Bringer and Candelaria Candelabra were the other starters It was a race that will probably be unmatched for years to come The colt started in the Wheeler Handicap won by Algol but was pulled up because of the bursting of a big boil deep in his nostril the occurrence leading to the report that he had burst a blood vessel which was not true Since then What er Lou has started in four races of which he easily won three and was nosed out by Cherry Leaf in the other through his jockeys mistake mistakeFound mistake Found is an extremely fast filly with light weight up Horses that can run a mile in 1 40 or thereabouts are scarce articles but Found can do it sure At St Lotus she defeated Crocket Rocket Gold Band and other fast ones seven furlongs in 1 27i At Washington Park she won at a mile in 1401 in a gallop Later on at Harlem she beat Yuba Dam Madrilene Marlene and others at a mile in 1401 In the mud she is as good as the best Her victories this year have been numerous and any condition of track or weather seem to suit her Allowing for natural improvement Found should be a great bread winner next year yearDare yardage Dare II is not as reliable as the foregoing pair and yet he is a very fast racehorse as his mile in 1 41 over the comparatively slow Haw ¬ thorne thorn track August 11 well showed When he was a 2yearold Dare II was about as good as Algol Ornament and Typhoon II and is quite liable to yet return to his high class form of 1896 His recent running has beeH beech such as to suggest something of tho thou sort sortMarzella Marzella Mazola has run so much over Chicago tracks that her rating as a racer is well established in the minds of local turf patrons She is only a speedy selling plater platter but one that has often won and no doubt will often do so again She is worth a good chunk of anybodys anybody money be ¬ cause rightly placed she is sure to return it with good interest
