Went to post at 2:35. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won handily; second driving. St. Wood ran on the outside through the entire trip, went all around the field at the turn into the homestretch and finishing fast was going away at the end. Ethel Davis was off running and showed much early speed, but tired when it came to a drive. Little Duchess n. was wearing Ethel Davis down at the end and would have beaten her out in another stride. Silk Maid was lucky at the start, displayed a great flight of speed and was only cantering at the end. Dorice ran in improved form and was easily the best of the others. Geranium vas driving to the limit all of the last furlong to stall oft Lyrist. The latter ran out at the far turn, but finished going fast. Memories is probably overrated and tired when called on. Aimless, was crowded back soon after the start, but closed a big gap, wore the leaders down while rounding the far turn and came away with a rush at the end. Adelante seemed dangerous on the turn, but tired at the end. Welsh Girl finished gamely under a drive. Tufts ran poorly. Little Gem showed early speed, but quit and was eased up when beaten. Japan was lucky in escaping the jam at the start and showed early speed, raced Gay American and Prince of Pilsen to subjection in the first quarter, but had to be hustled along at the end to stall off Lonsdale. The latter made up ground and finished very gamely under a drive. Marshal Ney ran a winning race from where he got off, closed a big gap while rounding the far turn, but the effort told at the end. Kilmorie had to go all around the leaders on the outside to get up and bumped Shogun several times in the stretch run. The latter might have won but for the interference. He was well ridden and had no mishaps. Goo Goo was under a hard drive all through the last furlong. Flauntess closed a big gap. Scratched— 391782Senor, 102; 39179 Mudlavia, 97.
