Cognomen tired fast when the pinch came. My Ester ran a fair race and bears watching hereafter. Triumvir made up ground in the last quarter and finished going fast. At post 1 minute. Start fair. Won easily after a shaking up in the last sixteenth; second the same. John McGurk closed up steadily in the last quarter and got to McChesney in the last hundred yards and sturdily outran him to the wire, winning with something to spare. McChesney ran his usual honest race, but simply could not concede the weight to the winner. He tired fast in the closing strides. Dominick madi» his move too soon. He began to drive McChesney hard leaving the half after a mile had been run. The horse was bleeding slightly at the nose when he pulled up. Little Scout appeared to have a good chance turning for home, but tired palpably in the last sixteenth struggle. Lucien Appleby was done for entering the last quarter after showing much speed. Flocarline stood a long stretch drive but hung in the closing strides. She was sharply cut off in the backstretch and on the turn after running a mile. Both mishaps caused her to lose much ground and cut a figure in the result. Gold Bell ran well for one and a quarter miles and showed gameness in the last eighth drive. Flying Torpedo fell away badly beaten just before making the far turn. Scratched— 39978 Six Shooter, 115; 40032 Amur, 92 1:48 p. m.; 3995GGregor K., 100 2:40 p. m.. John McGurk, show, 6 to 5.
