Mamaroneck. quickest at the start, dashed into a winning lead in the first furlong and set the pace all Ibc way, but was tiring at the end and had to be bard ridden to stall off Cantless. The latter saved ground oh the far turn and slipped through next to the rail when entering the homestretch, where the leaders went wide, and finished fast. Andalusia broke slowly and was crowded back in the first furlong, then closed a big gap and would have been second iu another stride. One of the stirrup irons on Merry Georges saddle broke at the first jump, but be was kept under restraint until going to the tenth jump, where he moved up with a rush and finally won under restraint. Butwell vimt well, but tired in the last quarter. Lulu Young was a game contender to the tenth jump, then tired. Tony Hart ran out at the second jump. Avaunteer dashed to the front at the start and, setting the pace all the way, hung on gamely under punishment and outstayed Colonel Jack at the end. The latter, a close contender all the way, moved up with a threatening challenge at the furlong post, but tired in the last sixteenth. Glimmer, outrun for the first, half, came fast after coming through on the inside when entering the stretch. Mortiboy was messed about for the entire trip and ids race should be thrown out. The latter was badly ridden, left at the post, being pulled up and then taking the overland route swung to the outside fence when entering the homestretch and came fast when loo late.
