NOTES OF THE TURF. There will be a sale of yearlings and horses in training In the paddock at Latonla today. J. II. Shonldice will ship Western and Royal River to California for a winter campaign. J. W. Fullers First Premium was awarded first premium as the best four-year-old stallion exhibited in the thoroughbred division at the Texas State Fair. Secretary Frank L. . Denlson announces that the Temple Bell County Fair Association will hold a Short race meeting at Driving Park, Temple, Texas, next spring. Tim Donohue, the steeplechase jockey, who left a sick bed to ride Coligny in the Champion Steeplechase, Is now in a sanitarium at Bath Beach ill with malaria. Carl Mitchell, who was one of the leading jockeys in Russia for several years, Is now a full-fledged trainer, ""no Is handling the .horses of G. J. Schneider at New York. A. B. Spreckels will winter his horses at Savannah, Ga. Trainer Enoch Wishard will prepare the dozen choicely bred yearlings in the Spreckels string for an early spring campaign on the Savannah track this winter.
