ONE OF THE BEST OF WESTERN HORSES For the last four years Martin Doyle has been the mainstay of Amos Turnevs stable and when at his best is a borse to be feared in any but the highest class competition Most of his good racing has been done over the Canadian tracks but lu a few visits to the New York courses he always ac ¬ quitted himselfln a way that insured the respectful attention of handlcapper Vosburgh as expressed in pounds that put him high up in the overnight han ¬ dicap division For instance at the Aqueduct fall meeting of 1906 he was handicapped at 110 pounds in a mile dash and defeated Lord of the Vale in 140 A few days later In another handicap at a mile and a sixteenth this time ho was raised to ll pounds and giving much weight to Agile Angler and other good horses won again Then ho was jumped up to 122 pounds and defeated Go Between and Bart News so easily at a wile over a sloppy track Go Between being a 3 to 5 favorite that Mr Turncy concluded it was not worth while to wait to see what weight would next fce given his horse and prudently pulled out for the west with nlm He was a cracking good racer last year and has done well in 1903 but not always up to his Itest form of the two previous years To date his record Is as follows year Ago Sts 1st 2d 3d Unp Won Totals 5 78
