CLIFFORD HAMMOND SHOT BY COUSIN Lexington Ky February 19 Clifford Hammond superintendent of K It Bradleys Idle Hour stock farm the home of the stallion Cunard and a band of valuable broodmares near this city was shot in the head and neck by his cousin Enuis McDanicl last night iMcDaniel later used the same shotgun In an attempt to commit suicide Both men will recover McDaniel hud been employed for some time n the farm and Hammond discharged him yesterday for drunkenness After supper McDaniel tool the shotgun and went to Hammonds house with a demand for the money duo him Hammond went into the house to get the money and sat down by the window to count it and make the entry in bis books McDanicl fired upon him through the window Believing that he had killed his cousin McDuniel ran to his room about a hundred yards away lay down upon the lied placed the muzzle of tlie gun under his arm pit and pulled the trigger Thsrc Is an ugly wound just over his heart but hospital physicians say he will recover Hammond is In bed at his homo1 and will be able to get out in a few days
