ONE OF PERKINS BILLS HELD UP. Albany. N. Y.. May IK. — The Senate virtually reversed itself yesterday on on - of the anti-betting bills. It refused to discharge the Cades Committee from further consideration of the Perkins measure, which would make directors of racing a--ociatl. us personally liable for gambling on rare tracks. An identical bill introduced by Senator Agnew was recently passed bv tin- Senate and is now iu the hands of the Assembly Rules Committee. The Perkins bill has bsen passed by the Assembly, but as yet the Codes Committee of the Senate has refused to r«-port it. Senator Agnews motion yesterday to nass the Perkins bill out of its order was defeated. 2" to 21. Inless the Senate or the Assembly repass one bill or tin- other. Section 201 of the business cor porations law. which exempts race track owners from liability for gambling if the race tracks are properly placarded and policed, will not tie repealed.
