WAS IMPRESSED BY VANDERGRIFT VANDERGRIFTFrancis Francis Nelson who was a visitor at Churchill Downs on Derby day writes as follows followsI I saw the Schorr colt Vandergrift win his first start at Louisville on Saturday in a style tliat ested that he might be a really good youngster is well enough bred for anything being by Ben Prush Noonday and his halfbrother was third in the Two Thousand Guineas two weeks ago besides winning previouslyThe the Crawfnrd Handicap previously The stable of IS J Mackenzie at Louisville has been reduced to ten head which it must be pre ¬ sumed represent welltried material The others were disM sed of one lot of eight being sold in a lump for 1500 on tlio principle that if they were not the kind wanted it would lie real economv to get rid of them at once Half of the stable now consists of twoyearolds named as follows Su perl Pulsation Superiority Bumps and Maid of Norfolk The older horses are Ptickhoni Helen BnrlKc Melton Street Kiltrix and Adelaide T They are also well engaged in Kentucky but will cjnie on the Canadian circuit for the Fort Erie meeting to remain for the season There is no threeyearold in the stable and consequently no representation in the Derby Mr Mackenzie isstill looking for a good threeyearold
