C0R0NAD0 STAKES TO OLD BROOM. Clarence Buxton Wins His Second Stake of the Meeting — Grand Finish in Catalina Handicap. Tijuana. Ilex., March 4. — Clarence Buxton won his second stake race of the meeting today. When Old Broom captured the Corouado Selling Stakes. valued at ,500. The son of Broomstick did not get away any too well, but when called on in the stretch, ran away from his opponents. Conning Tower set the early pace, but Old Proom had little trouble in passing him on the far turn and Oooa-mauretta. one of the K. Spence entries, closing a big gap. also passed the pacemaker, but could not get close enough to challenge the winner. The Catalina Handicap at three-quarters, provided a grand contest. Maud Bacon just got up to win by a scant margin. She was undoubtedly beat, for. after beginning slowly, she raced around her opponents and. finishing with a terrific burst of speed, get up to win ill the last stride. Shell Do and Sayonarra finished second and third respectively, with inches separating them from the nrlaaer. Barton won the second race from a band of speedy ones, while Estimable finally ran to her old form to account for the first. The weather was perfect here today and handled* of visitors came here to see the miming of the last stake of the season. This was the hundredth day of the present meeting. Francis was claimed out of the second race by G. Sadlo.
