ENTRIES TO FALL STAKES CLOSE. Last Chance to Make Nominations to Attractive Events to Be Run at Douglas Park and Latonia. Louisville, Ky., August 1G. Entries to the stake events to be run in the fall at the Douglas Park and Latonia race tracks close tomorrow. These stakes are the Douglas Park Inaugural Handicap, ,000 added; Beechmont Selling Stakes, Xl.fxKj added; Louisville Cup, ,500 added and valuable silver cup; Latonia Autumn Inaugural Handicap, ,000 added; Fort Thomas Handicap, ,000 added; Autumn Selling Stakes, ,000 added; Latonia Cup, ,500 added iipd the Queen City Championship Stakes, ,000 added. The Latonia Cup event also carries with it a valuable sliver trophy. Advices from General Manager John II. Hachmeister, who. is- at Saratoga looking after the stake nominations for his two tracks, are to tlie effect that many of the large Eastern stables, which formerly only raced, op the Bluegrass circuit in the spring, will be on hand next month as they have made a number of stake entries, especially in the two cup races. Likewise, many of tlie crack two-year-olds of the .East will be sent to Kentucky to contest in the ,000 added Queen City Championship Stake, which will be at one mile. ..,-. Applications for stabling room continue to pour in to tlie Douglas Park management and it is more than likely that this .course will house more horses in training than ever before. It has always been crowded to capacity but there have been any number of yearlings stabled within tlie gates, something which will not be permitted while the racing season is on. The Douglas Park racing will last only seven days, beginning on September 2G and running until October. 3. Churchill Downs will then follow witli a meeting of the same duration, opening October 4 and running until October 11. Then the scene will shift to Latonia, where a twenty-five days meeting will be held, starting October 13 and concluding November 30. In. all, 1 0,500 will be given away in stakes by Douglas Park and Latonia, the former adding 1917.sh,000 to its three stakes and the latter 0,500 to the stakes to be run at the Milldale course.
