PLUM raced in close pursuit of RUTH LAW early, then drew clear when entering the homestretch, held on gamely under hard riding Avhen challenged and Avas going aAvay in the closing strides. MATINEE IDOL saved ground Avhile rounding the last turn and made a game effort in the last eighth, but tired Anally. HONEYDEW Avas shullled back at the start, but gradually improved her position and finished gamely. HEREDITY Avas a forward contender for the first half, but tired near the end. MANNCHEN, after being saved under slight restraint in the early running, took the lead at the eighth post and Avon easing up. POLLYANNA slipped through next to the rail into the lead on the back-stretch, showed a good order of speed and held on gamely in the final drive. MEDITATION Avas a for-Avard contender and came Avide on the stretch turn, then finished well under punishment and outstayed SPRING SONG at the end. SPRING SONG, closer up than usual in the early running, avus cut off on the backstretch, then came again in the last quarter, but tired in the closing strides. TRANBY Avas hard ridden throughout. LILLIS set the pace and was hard ridden in the early running, but could not Avithstand tho Avinners challenge. HARRY SHAW Avas croAvdcd back on the last turn, then gained steadily and outstayed PULASKI in the final dri-e. PULASKI, away slowly, raced around the leaders and tired in the closing strides. STARFINCH had no mishaps. PADDY WHACK Avas never prominent and ran a dull race. The Avinner, entered for ,500, Avas bid up to ,500 and sold to M. P. Reynolds. TEA CADDY gradually improved his position and, having saved ground on all turns, finished fast and easily passed HUSSY. The latter raced in nearest pursuit of the leader to the stretch, but tired in the last eighth. STARTLING could never get to the leaders and quit in the stretch. PAN MAID had no mishaps. RIGHT had no mishaps, moved up gradually and made a game effort in the homestretch, but tired in the closing strides and avus driving hard to Avilh-stand PRECISKS challenge. The latter saved ground on the stretch turn and finished fastest of the leaders. THE GRADER raced Avell up throughout. FIRST BALLOT displayed speed for a half and tired. SASIN could never get up. AAOOD VIOLET, shuffled back at the start, closed a big gap and finished fast and gaining. CONTINENT raced Avide throughout, but held on Avell under punishment at the finish. EAGER KATE closed a big gap Avhile racing wide all the AAay. TEA PARTY tired after setting the pace to the stretch.
