I RED CROSS PRAISE THE HORSEMEN Lexington. Ky.. June 15. — In the course of a letter sent out today "to the Bed Cross workers in Kentucky." Campaign Manager John 11. Downing expresses his appreciation for the work and cooperation received in raising approximately SL.lUO.-000 for the second war mercy fund, though Kentuckys a Hot men I was S0OO.0OO. Among other things he says: "Especial praise is due the Kentucky State Baeing Commission and to the thoroughbred horse interests for the substantial contribution of £300.000. It was the knowledge that this amount could lie depended upon at all times and at all hazards, that kept up the spirit of state headquarters throughout the first dark days of the campaign. I am sure that the knowledge of a duty well done is the chief satisfaction that these men derive from their generous act. 1 wish to thank them for their extreme generosity.
